I realized there was a problem, here, where
pandor! says:
April 18, 2010 at 10:49 PMNo text with the last image. Is this another one of your unfinished pieces?
and then
Tuttle says:
April 21, 2010 at 11:08 AMFair question. I’m glad you asked!
The thumbnail version of the story (extended version to follow in this space) is that I drained the captions from the last two images above at my brother Mack’s request. In his opinion (IHHO), my text encroached not only upon his privacy, but upon his hard-won good health, so out of respect, and because he’s family, I cut out the offending passages (and foreclosed on the possibility that they could be re-published at postdelete.com). Look for new text in the next day or two that displaces the piece’s emphasis on Mack’s famous first novel’s portrayal of me upon my return from my lost years in the Himalaya…
Tuttle
I don’t know if I’m going to get into the full story here now, either, but it’s enough to say that my brother’s request to scrub my story of all excerpts from, as well as references and allusions to his text meant that three years in, the very foundation of my story was sucked by a third-party’s fate into a black hole, a sort of familio-literary quarantine; and that even if the larger hobotrain network project remained tenable after this blow, I would still be forced to re-envision its narrative from the ground up.
End.

- Changed title of Hangtime to Hangtime (working title); added text to the caption in essay image 3, captioned thumbnails on the permalinked page.
- Edits to Gratuitous; Reminder to Kitchen Staff #3 (Cold Table); Now Welcoming Scenesters for Brunch and Write Really Small | My Analog Life.
- Changed link colors. Links were formerly #A82835 and are now #FF0000. Visited links appear as #CC0000. Hover remains #FF4500 on a background of #F5F5F5.
- Changed title of recent posts <h5> heading to “Entrées Récentes” from “Reservoir” and I finally figured how to limit the number of posts displayed under that heading (to 20).
End.

tuttlescorner.com now open…
- Added Gratuitous
- Added Topic List (Tentative)
- Added Now Welcoming Scenesters For Brunch!
- Added Booked from Facebook
- Added What Do They Call It, Aptitude?
- Rewrote and republished Hangtime (working draft)
- Changed image and publishing date in Reminder to Kitchen-Staff #3 (Cold Table). (Aesthetic choice based on image placement.)
- Increased number of recent comments (Critiques) shown in the left sidebar from 5 to 15 or so.
- Temporarily added a couple of CSS 3 easter eggs (invalidating my CSS in the process).
- Edited Corner Legend, pages 2 and 3 . There is still a lot missing from this piece, so I’ve decided to classify the second and third pages as “working draft” and “notes,” respectively. Most larger points are covered at least in outline, but there are major bits (5L4M’s bio, for example) haven’t been touched on at all.
- Removed four names from the Affects page; also, added two names and changed seven names.
New issues…
Servers: Sorry about the latency. I’m in the process of resolving some issues with my host which I hope to have resolved in a few days.
Site: I still hate the left sidebar on the main page and I’m working on ways to display fewer recent posts with their excerpts in a more compact way.
[RESOLVED]Opera 10.5b font issue
Opera relies on PostScript font names so my fonts issue was resolved by adding Times Roman to Tuttle’s Corner styles.

Opera 10.5b issues at Tuttle’s Corner:
I notice that Opera 10.5b for Mac doesn’t (on first glance) have a Times in its font collection, so Times is rendering as Times New Roman at Tuttle’s Corner. This has happened with earlier versions of Opera, too, and it’s always been fixed.
I’m not happy with how Lightbox works in Opera, either. Images open at the bottom of the screen instead of the middle. There’s a post in the Drupal forums that describes this issue in more detail and offers an untenable fix.
End.

- The image strand in the left sidebar (on all pages but the Main page) has been re-curated.
- Changed
allmost thumbnail images to 16 x 9 format. Expanded images retain their original formatting in most cases.- Changed 5 of 6 thumbnail images in the image essay, Write Really Small.
- Changed status of ☷: 10 OCT 08 10:50:54 to To Be Deleted.
- Changed the <h4> heading for Drifts to <h5> at the bottom of posts.
- Changed <h5> heading under single entry pages from “Related Posts” to “Related Ideas.”
- Added text to the first and second images in the image essay, Hangtime.
Need to fix:
- Change pages to show 7 posts instead of 8. I somehow lost the ability to change this functionality, maybe with the installation of page-navi.
- The list of entries (Reservoir) in the left sidebar of the Main page still needs work. I don’t like all entries being listed there but I’ve been unable to crack the mystery of limiting the list to a certain number of entries. I see another $50 or going through my PayPal account to get this fixed.
- I have the javascripts I need to replace the Flash clock in the upper right hand corner with an HTML 5-based clock. That may take me a weekend to do, but it’s certain to enable pages to load more quickly.
End.

- Added page navigation for entries eight entries per page. The styles still need to be fixed.
- Added to Letter to Staff #1 (Why 100?).
- Added Sex and Drugs at Tuttle’s Corner.
- Moved hobotrain network links up in the right sidebar. They’re now above Drifts (tags).
End.

- More or less finished the first page of Corner Legend which describes the bet. Now Page 1 and Page 2 (which describes our acquisition of the property) are complete (enough) that I can try to make Page 3 readable (enough) to throw Tuttle’s Corner up tonight or tomorrow.
- The formatting of the excerpts included with search results is borked. I’ve been trying to fix it in the CSS (which nevertheless validates), but no luck so far. Coding is my third job, unfortunately. Other than that and a couple of even smaller issues, I only have my introversion to overcome.
End.

There’s not much to talk about. I’ve been spending most of my time on Monk Falls over the past week. Corner Legend is almost good to go. On Page 3, I need to finish summing up and to lose some of the histrionics, e.g.,
Most days, I just hang around to keep people on their toes. My employees don’t need me around to help them do their jobs and my friends and customers don’t need me to be here to feel comfortable when they’re eating, but it’s gotten so that everyone just expects me to be here, so I keep a couple changes of clothes in the storage closet, and I built a little extension out in the back that has a tile shower. I have a cot. There’s always plenty to eat. I’m a lucky man, in a way. But luck has made me a little bit lazy, too….
ShouldCould be online by Sunday, 09-06-09.

- Leaning against adding social network links to the right sidebar.
- Trying to polish up Corner Legend. When that’s (close to) done, I’ll throw the switch on Tuttle’s Corner and we’ll see how things go. (When I do that, I’ll likely change my Web profiles’ URLs back to net/network to muddy the waters a little until things get going.)
End.

What I realized, traveling back to Tuttle’s Corner from my Flickr page and weighing whether to include links to my photostream there (no activity yet) and also to my Twitter feed (no followers yet) and Facebook page (no friends yet) under the hobotrain network heading in the right sidebar, is that with the hobotrain network project, I’m essentially developing a social network designed to enable its single member to meet or connect with many of his own (seemingly) independent trains of thought, each on its own terms.
That’s pretty funny.
